Ceramic 3D Printing

1. Ceramic powder

Ceramic powder is the most common ceramic material, and it can be used in a variety of 3D printing processes. This material is characterized by high precision, uniform texture, smooth surface, and can be used to create many complex ceramic forms.

2. Ceramic

Ceramics are obtained by mixing ceramic powder into a liquid state, and this mixture can be used in 3D printing equipment. Objects printed using ceramic pulp have a smooth, delicate surface, and high detail and precision, so they are widely recognized by the manufacturing industry.

3. Colored ceramics

Colored ceramics are made by adding pigments to the surface treatment or manufacturing process. The use of this ceramic material can create more visually intense ceramic forms, and the colors can achieve very colorful changes.

4. Cermet

Cermet is a mixture of metal and ceramic materials. Due to its material characteristics, the use of cermet can create stronger, more durable ceramic objects with very high precision during processing.

What are the processes of ceramic 3D printing?

1. Powder ceramic 3D printing

In powder ceramic 3D printing, the most common technologies are selective laser sintering (SLS) and powder bed sintering (SFF). This process can create complex shapes by using a fine powder and then gluing the particles together by high temperatures.

2. Light-curing 3D printing

In light-curing 3D printing, a curable liquid material is used to solidify the material rigidly through the radiation of the UV light source to form a 3D three-dimensional model. This technology has a wide range of applications and can print devices with complex structures, such as ceramic molds.

3. Additive ceramic manufacturing

Additive ceramic manufacturing is a rapid prototyping technique that uses a 3D ceramic printer to print ceramic products of different shapes, sizes, and complexities. Compared with traditional manufacturing processes, additive ceramic manufacturing has the advantages of high efficiency, low cost, high precision and short lead time.

What is the post-processing of ceramic 3D printing?

First, the surface of the printed ceramic is sanded to remove possible burrs and rough surfaces. The purpose of polishing is to make the surface of the product smoother, so that the color can be more vivid and bright.

Then, after sanding, the product needs to be washed and dried. The purpose of cleaning is to remove dust and dirt from the surface, so that the product is cleaner and easier to operate. In the process of drying, it is necessary to maintain a certain temperature and humidity to allow the product to dry fully, so as to ensure the smooth progress of the follow-up work.

Finally, the sintering treatment is carried out to grill the ceramic products at high temperature, so that they become stronger and more durable under the action of high temperature and oxygen. The temperature and time of sintering need to be adjusted according to the size and material of the article to ensure the quality and performance of the final product.

In short, the post-processing of ceramic 3D printing is very important and is the key to ensuring the quality and beauty of ceramic products. Only after fine post-processing work can we manufacture ceramic products of excellent quality and make greater contributions to the development of human life and culture and art.
